Crafting fashion franchise Committed to bring back the glorious past and enrich traditional splendor in ethnic wear, the brand Taraz was pioneered. Tahir Khan Khilji Managing Director, Taraz Fashion shares his experience of participation in FRO Jaipur.

Namita Bhagat (NB): Share the origin and growth of your company and how did the company opt for franchise route?

Tahir Khan Khilji (TKK): India has a rich heritage of art and culture and Indian handicraft & art crafts have ruled over the minds of art lovers for centuries. Also, this art was a source of earnings for many. Over a period of time the skill lost its luster due to negligence and competition with machine. We have ancestral connection with this craft, particularly, zardosi, handwork, hand embroidery. Many generations of our family have been involved in this business. We formally entered into manufacturing of ethnic women wear in year 1991. We have expertise in making traditional yet contemporary, trendy and fashionable women wear. We have pioneered several designs and introduced them to markets through our channel partners across the country. We entered into organised retailing in the name of our brand TARAZ. We are committed to bring back the glorious past and enrich traditional splendor and strengthen economic condition of families involved into this. As retail is growing with fastest pace across the globe, we put our thrust on franchise network. We initially tied up with Treasure Showcase. We are now also present in Treasure Island Indore, Ujjain, Pheonix Mall Lucknow. Further, we participated in FRO Chandigarh and extend independent outlet in, Chandigarh and Jalandhar. Later we participated in Hyderabad FRO and likely to open one outlet in Hyderabad.

NB: Promotional strategy plays an important role in the appropriate growth of brand. Kindly elaborate the strategy you adopt to enhance the reach of your brand.

TKK: We plan to propagate our brand by means of advertisement in newspapers particularly where we have our outlets. Later once we are present across the country we shall promote through magazines. It is also imperative to mention here that our quality and economical price is giving an encouraging repeat customer and mouth publicity among fashion lovers.

NB: The company participated in FRO Jaipur. What factors motivated you to participate in the event?

TTK: Our previous experience, our wish to expand in north and the economical offer by FRO executive made up our mind to participate.

NB: Share your experience being one of the participating companies at FRO.

TTK: FRO is a nice concept to make your brand registered among the aspiring investors. It acts as a bridge between franchisors and franchisees. We have so far participated in three of Franchise India shows namely, Chandigarh, Hyderabad and Jaipur. We got encouraging response in Hyderabad and Chandigarh.

NB: How do you think the brand’s participation in the event would contribute to the growth of company?

TTK: This gives us a platform to display our products among the serious investors. We have enough time to explain about our company, concept, and philosophy and convince that how our offerings are better than competitors. This gives boost to the brand.

NB: What advice would you like to give to the entrepreneurs and investors looking forward to participate in the show to get maximum benefit from it?

TTK: I believe that entrepreneurs looking for serious franchisee investment are like a traveler in the desert where he runs in search of water (franchisors or Brand), and most of the time he finds that this is just a mirage, where FRO proves to be a real oasis to them.
