BKV plans aggressive expansion

Birla Kerala Vaidyashala (BKV) has plans to launch 100 centres in next three years. The proposed expansion is slated for India as well as international locations through company owner ship and franchise model.
The company is a health and wellness business enterprise of The Yash Birla Group (YBG). The YBG has acquired another 48 per cent stake in Birla Kerala Vaidyashala (BKV) venture from its joint venture partner, Kurup family, which is now has only one per cent share in its kitty.
Established in 2008, BKV currently has a total of 40 centres across India. The company with an annual turnover of Rs 10 crore has mainly focused on domestic presence till now. As the YBG have become the full owners of the company, the management is looking for overseas expansion for the BKV brand and will be launching Ayurvedic Medspa centres in UAE, Gulf region, Southeast Asia in the near future. These international centres will be opened through a mix of standalone outlets and also located in hotels. The first centre s expected debut in UAE within the next seven months.
YBG seeks franchise partners having 800 to 1,000 sq.ft of space, which can go up to 4,000 sq.ft and the investment can range from Rs7 lakh to 15 lakh for a centre.The YBG is a Rs 3,000 crore with business interest in several sectors including auto and engineering, textiles and chemicals and, power and electrical, wellness and lifestyle, education and IT.
